These bothersome pimples, which reduce quality of life, have similar shapes and appearances to pimples that appear on other parts of the body. Pimples can be painful or painless, shiny or dull, single or in groups, small or large, and inflamed or non-inflamed.<\/p>\n<h4>Causes of Acne in the Genital Area<\/h4>\n<p>The most common causes of acne in the genital area are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Folliculitis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inflammation and infection of hair follicles in the genital area can lead to acne-like lesions called folliculitis. Folliculitis is most often caused by epilation or shaving of the genital area, tight clothing that causes friction, cuts and wounds, ingrown hairs, hygienic products, and follicles clogged by sweat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Contact Dermatitis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contact dermatitis is a condition that can occur when the skin comes into contact with an allergen or irritant. Factors that can cause contact dermatitis, which leads to acne in the genital area, include shower gels, powders and deodorants, scented soaps, detergents, medicated gels and lotions, lubricants, condoms, sanitary pads, urine, and sperm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Acne inversa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This condition, occurring in the breasts and the lower part of the groin area, is caused by chronic inflammation of the sweat glands in these areas. The pimples are usually painful and inflamed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Molluscum contagiosum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection that can appear almost anywhere on the body. These pimple-like lesions manifest as white or bright red spots with a white center and a slight depression.<\/p>\n<h4>Acne Treatment in the Genital Area<\/h4>\n<p>Acne in the genital area is generally self-limiting and does not require treatment. However, the key to treatment is identifying and eliminating the underlying cause. Until the acne disappears, it may be necessary to avoid contact with detergents, sanitary pads, and similar products in the genital area. Furthermore, after acne appears, attention should be paid to hygiene in the area; the area should be washed with lukewarm water and kept dry. Oils, scented soaps, and deodorants should not be used in the area, and places like swimming pools, hot baths, Turkish baths, and saunas should be avoided for a while.
